Beaver Springs Labor Day National

Posted: [12/12/09 by Bob Lascak]

The Warriors caught a couple hours of rest and headed to Beaver Springs Raceway, Beaver Springs PA.
Bob McCardle a long time friend and track owner welcomed the Warriors for a usual great outing at Beaver Springs track that was prepared as good or better than any on tour.
The First Round of qualifying ended with Bob Lascak and Wicked Vette leading the way on his comeback driving after Jessie Harris helped with the driving chores last year.
The Mickey Thompson burnout challenge won by Mike Himes and his ready to go Rodeck powered Camaro, Mike also picked up the Enderle Quick reaction time award.
This Race would determine the Warriors Points placement for the 09 points season and Mike Himes and Jared Yuhasz were still in a close battle and the only 2 able to earn the award at the last race.
The first round lead off with the Thiller of Joe Veschusio lining up against Madman Mike Himes. Mike took the WIN with .005 reaction and a 7.638 @ 180 MPH, Joe followed with a laboring 8.31 @ 167.82 MPH. The next pairing had the 502 inch 23T of Jared and Joe Yuhasz second in points and needing to win and get to the final, against Moose Danes the newest Warrior with a win the day before in his nostalgic altered 377 inch blown small block high winder. This was a great fast battle with Jared & Joe Yuhasz taking a close battle of muscle, the Hell Raiser T ran an under 7.534 @ 185.78 MPH but takes the win from Moose being assisted by Hank Danes, crew member and Veteran tuner Frank Mazi of the blown BB/altered fame, Moose RED lighted away a great good index 7.579 @ 178.98 by -.010.
The next match pitted Frank Armon and his Opel GT small block powered against Bob Lascak and Karen DeBarto tuned 548 inch 14:71 blown Corvette, Bob takes the Win with a 7.63@ 180.54.
The Final matches the Wicked Corvette of Bob Lascak against the season champion Mike Himes. The 2 Veterans have been here before and they know the game and want to show the best they can as this is the seasons final race expecting only the best will win one here and the crowd was not let down as both cars left the starting line on the chip as the fall evening approached. Mike and Bob left side by side, wheels up and charging to the quarter mile finish, Bob Lascak & the Wicked Vette turns on the win light with an under 7.541 @ 180.75, .009 reaction. Mike caught the Red eye running a great 7.584 @ 185.91 MPH, .018 reaction. All watching were treated to a great final.
The Warriors held there annual Luau party after the race orchestrated by Penny & Joe Veschusio with all the Warriors bringing food & drink. A great time was held by All.
Special Thanks to Beaver Bob and his great operations crew, the track was perfect, the weather was perfect and fun level was pegged.
