Posted: [09/06/10 by Karen]
Beaver Springs was the last race on the 2010 points tour for the Supercharged Warriors. Jared Yuhasz and Bob Lascak were in contention to claim the title.
Veteran warriors Bob Lascak and Mike Himes started out the Labor Day weekend by match racing on Friday evening at the Beaver. The Wicked vette and the Dangerzone camaro looked great under the new lights Beaver had installed.
Saturday morning found eight warrior cars in attendence, tuned and ready to race. First to the line were Bill Bonanti in his 1991 camaro and Mike Himes in his 1982 camaro. The two camaros did long smokey burnouts trying to take home the Mickey Thompson Burn Out Challenge award. Bill took the win running a 5.17. Next were Jerry Bascombe in Flash and Joe Veschusio in the Thriller a 1948 Fiat Toppolino. Bascombe and Veschusio smoked up the track with their burnouts then staged for the race.Flash won the round with a 4.90. Jared Yuhasz in Hell Raiser came up against the new comer Bob Hill in Bustin'Loose a great looking Fiat. At the end of the race Yuhasz come out the victor running a 4.98 to Hill's too fast 4.84. Finishing up the round were Bob Lascak in Wicked and Vince DiRose piloting Black Ice. Wicked and Black Ice did side by side burn outs to the 1/8th mile with DiRose in Black Ice being voted the Mickey Thompson Burnout Challenge winner. Congratulations to Vince on his first Burnout challenge win, and also taking the round win running a 5.17.
The Warriors came up the return road in front of the fans stopping to give out flags and frisbees on their way vack to the pits.
Second round is the Enderlee Quick Reaction Time Award when all the drivers try to get the best reaction time of the round. Vince DiRose and Bill Bonanti started the round setting the bar high, DiRose had a .113 reaction and Bill had a .011 also winning the round with a 5.08. Next Jared Yuhasz and Mike Himes knew they had to be on their game to best Bill's reaction time. Jared barely turned on the red with a -.001 giving Himes the round win with a good .016 light. Bob Lascak and Bob Hill were vying for the award but, didn't quite make the cut. Hill won the round running a 4.89. Jerry Bascombe qualified number one so he had the bye run with a .067 reaction time and a 4.90 elapsed time. Congratulations to Wild Bill Bonanti on his Enderlee Quick Reaction time award winning with a stellar .011 light.
Final round was Jerry Bascombe in Flash aginst the newcomer Bob Hill in Bustin'Loose. Bascombe ran a too fast 4.80 to Hill's 4.86. Kudos to Hill for his first Supercharged Warrior win.
When the race was over and points tallied Jared Yuhasz came out the 2010 Super Charged Warrior Champion. Congratulations to Jared and Joe Yuhasz for a great season.
The Supercharged Warriors would like to send out a big thank you to Beaver Bob and his staff for the great racing. We would also like to invite our fans to join us on Facebook. See you at a racetrack soon.
